LateRooms.com - Visit Barcelona's Macba for the Museum of Parallel Narratives
The collection of eastern European art aims to explore both the political and creative context of the work.
BARCELONA, SPAIN, May 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Museum of Parallel Narratives has opened at Barcelona's Macba art space and will be on show until October 2nd 2011.
It is a collection of artwork from the Moderna Galerija in Ljubljana, Slovenia that includes pieces by names such as Ion Grigorescu, Sano Filko and Josip Vanista.
There is a huge variety of styles on show and the display aims to explore the political background of each item, as well as the issues that were taking place in the artistic sphere at the time.
In a statement, the organisers said: "The exhibition goes beyond the usual attempts to present eastern European art, which in the main have sought only to offer a condensed version of the art of the region, without engaging with the complexities of its context."
Opening hours up to June 23rd are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:00 to 19:30 local time, Saturday 10:00 to 20:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 15:00.
After that date, the exhibition closes 30 minutes later on weekdays.
Visitors can view the whole museum for EUR7.50 (GBP6.60) or a single exhibition for EUR6, although there are concessions and multi-passes available.
Art fanatics can use LateRooms.com to browse a huge variety of cheap hotels in Barcelona, such as the Hotel Barbara Barcelona.
