LateRooms.com - Experience A Collector's Eye in Liverpool
Anyone keen to see how a collection is built up should not miss a new exhibition at Liverpool's Walker Art Gallery.
LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, March 18, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A Collector's Eye allows people in Liverpool to gain insight into how art enthusiasts build up their stock of paintings and what it says about them.
Running until May 15th at the Walker Art Gallery, the installation features pictures by world-famous painters such as El Greco.
The show has been made possible thanks to loans from David J Lewis's Schorr Collection and the organisers aim to show how the pieces reflect his interests.
St John the Evangelist by El Greco and Lucas Cranach's Lamentation over Dead Christ are among the high-profile pictures included in the display.
"The exhibition will feature five centuries of art and 64 works ranging from tender 15th-century devotional images to 19th-century French Impressionist landscapes," explained the venue.
It is free to enter, with the gallery opening from 10:00 to 17:00 GMT/BST every day.
The institution is also hosting the Dare to Wear display, which features a number of glass dresses created by Diana Dias-Leao. It is available to view until September 30th 2011.
LateRooms.com recommends a wide variety of Liverpool hotels for art fans visiting the city, including the Adelphi Hotel Liverpool.
