Rome is currently showcasing the work of 16th century painter Lucas Cranach.
ROME, ITALY, January 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Travellers heading for 5 star hotels in Rome in the coming weeks could check out a stunning exhibition of the work of Lucas Cranach.
The Renaissance artist was a court painter for the Electors of Saxony in the 16th century and a selection of his finest pieces is currently on show at the Borghese Gallery.
According to the organisers, the exhibition will be the first time much of Cranach's work will have been seen in Italy, suggesting the show is likely to be popular with residents as well as holidaymakers.
Among the artist's most famous pieces are a portrait of Martin Luther, a woodcarving of Adam and Eve and a painting entitled The Ill-Matched Couple.
Tourists have until February 13th 2011 to head down to the venue to see this fascinating show.
In order to reach the gallery, people can take the Metro Line A to Piazza di Spagna and follow the signs to the arts space.
Admission costs EUR8.50 (GBP7.15) and concessions are available. Anyone keen to explore the display further could consider signing up for an audioguide or guided tour in English costing EUR5.
If visitors head to the gallery before February 7th, they could also check out an installation entitled I Due Imperi, which costs EUR1 to enter.
