AGORA GALLERY PRESENTS LABYRINTH OF ABSTRACTION
NEW YORK, NY, October 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chelsea's Agora Gallery will feature abstract artist, Ronald Himler, in Labyrinth of Abstraction. The exhibition is scheduled to run from October 29, 2010 through November 19, 2010 (opening reception: Thursday, November 04, 2010).
Award-winning artist, Ronald Himler is a creative individual with a wide variety of interests. He is a professional sculptor, children's author, and illustrator but it is in his abstract paintings that his highest accomplishments in fine art rest. With oil on canvas, Himler uses a unique approach to create a dynamic pastiche of consumer products, geometric shapes, fabrics, and architectural edifices. The subjects are fractured and cropped in a way that makes them unidentifiable. The paintings are enigmatic, so that as our eyes absorb the imagery, our minds try to make sense of what is seen, but to no avail. We focus on the textural and luminous qualities of the interlocking forms that push our attention around the composition. Sections of muted color give way to striking areas of high contrast. The paintings become non-objective impressions, entreating the viewer to take a momentary pause for reflection.
Himler has conducted research in major European museums and on the Plains Indians of America, whom he gained a reputation for painting. He lives in Tucson, Arizona.
