Chris Y. Uchibori Recognized for Excellence in Music Instruction
Chris Y. Uchibori performed with casino entertainers Fabian, Bobby Rydell, Rich Little, Frankie Avalon, and others

REDDING, CA, October 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chris Y. Uchibori, Musician and Instructor of Brass Reed Music, Music Max Store, Junction School Elementary District, Orland High School, Anderson High School, and Red Bluff High School, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership, and excellence in music education and performance.

For over 50 years, Mr. Uchibori has been involved with various bands, orchestras, and jazz performances. During his early career, he was drafted into the Army Bands in 1969 and performed all over California, Korea, Japan, and Hawaii. His work at Fort Ord and the Monterey Symphony led him to teaching jobs at Pacific Grove High School, Sam Houston Middle School, Simpson University, Pasadena College, Red Bluff Union School District and retirement in 2006. He was immediately brought out of retirement and has spent the last four years teaching music at the Junction Elementary School District while teaching music lessons at the Brass Reed Music and Music Max Store for the past 8 years. When Mr. Uchibori is not holding music classes he is active as a saxophone, flute, clarinet and string bass performer. He also teaches "The Art of Sushi" at the California Kitchen Store in Red Bluff.

Although now called Point Loma Nazarene University, Pasadena College is Mr. Uchibori's alma mater; there he received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education in1969. He is a past state board member of the California Band Directors Association, and a California Music Educators Association past president. He has been presented with five Teacher of the Year awards.

Chris Uchibori is a life member of the International Association of Jazz Educators, Monterey Jazz Festival Coordinator and Judge for the Calif. Honor Jazz Band and Combo Competition. He has been a performer with the Pasadena Symphony, Monterey Symphony, Redding Symphony, Shasta Symphony, Masterworks Chamber Orchestra, Sax Therapy, Straight Ahead Big Band, Fabulous Swing Kings, Java Jazz, Skyliners Big Band and a performer for touring casino entertainers Fabian, Bobby Rydell, Rich Little, Frankie Avalon and other casino entertainers.

His current personal goal is to improve his use of computer music technology in the areas of music notation, arrangements, composition, recording studio production, and the editing of recordings.
