Beverly Fernald Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Beverly Fernald has performed in over 40 leading roles in opera and Broadway as a professional singer

LAKEWOOD, CO, October 01, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Beverly Fernald, Executive Director of Colorado Center for the Vocal Arts, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in performing arts,

The executive director of Colorado Center for the Vocal Arts, Ms. Fernald specializes in teaching voice and performing herself. She retired from teaching voice and related subjects at Metropolitan State College of Denver in 2002 after 30 years and now has a full schedule of private students. As a professional singer, she has performed in over 40 leading roles in opera, including performances with the New York City Opera, as well as other companies in the United States and Europe. She was a winner in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions, and won grants from the Ford Foundation and Rockefeller Foundation. In addition, she has participated in and won many competitions, internationally as well as locally. Her career includes performances in Broadway musicals, soloist in performances of large works with chorus and orchestras, solo recitals, and performing in churches and synogogues, as well as night club reviews with other noteworthy entertainers.

Ms. Fernald received her Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Denver in 1958 and furthered her education at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, the Hochschule für Musik in Munich and the Aspen Music Festival, among other festivals. She is the Fifth Vice President of Mu Phi Epsilon International Professional Music Fraternity and is active in her local alumni chapter. She has received many honors including being selected Distinguiished Citizen of the Year by Alpha Gamma Delta International Fraternity and being selected VIP of the Year by Madison Who's Who. In her spare time, she volunteers at her local church and sings at community charitable events. In the coming years, she intends to continue training voice students and presenting more master classes in vocal technique, interpretation of vocal literature and performance/audition techniques. She also intends to continue performing solo recitals furthering the Art of Leider as well as sacred and broadway musical literature.
