LateRooms.com - See Gino De Dominicis While in Rome
Rome's new MAXXI museum is showcasing the work of controversial artist Gino De Dominicis.
ROME, ITALY, July 08, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Travellers heading to 5-star hotels in Rome could round off their trip with a visit to the MAXXI art space to see the Gino De Dominicis exhibition - The Immortal.
Running until November 7th, this display aims to showcase the issues that the artist concentrated on throughout his lifetime, with immortality proving to be one of the central topics.
The venue described how this idea links together a lot of his work, with more than 130 pieces available to view at this exhibition.
It has aimed to provide the most exhaustive retrospective of De Dominicis' work, having worked alongside a huge variety of foundations, museums and private collectors to put together this show.
"The exhibition is not structured according to a linear chronological evolution, but rather around the coexistence and co-presence of the works."
Rather than all being placed in one room, his work has been spread around three zones in the MAXXI, the Gian Ferrari Hall, the stairwell and Gallery 5.
De Dominicis passed away in 1998 at the age of 51, having been widely considered a controversial figure in the Italian art world because of the nature of his art.
Entrance costs EUR11 (GBP9.08), with the building opening between 11:00 and 19:00 local time every day except Monday when it is closed and Thursday when it stays open later until 22:00.
