BILBAO, SPAIN, June 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A stunning display of art is available to view at the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum entitled Taurus - From Myth to Ritual, which investigates the iconography of the bull.
The collection includes more than 200 pieces and features work by such highly-regarded artists as Picasso, Manet, Goya, Barcelo and Miro.
It is not just paintings and drawings that are on display at this event, but sculptures and pottery as well.
Visitors from Bilbao hotels can see Taurus - From Myth to Ritual until September 5th, with pieces included in the exhibition ranging from Bronze Age artefacts to modern day masterpieces.
The aim of the show is to look at how the image of the bull is found in Mediterranean culture, such as in myths, games, fiestas and ceremonies.
"Some of the greatest artists of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries worked with the iconography of modern bullfighting, recalling the ancient cult that worshipped the brute force of the bull while turning a pitiless eye on death," explained the venue.
Another item that art lovers could check out while they are at the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum is the Rape of Deidamia by Peter Paul Rubens, which is on loan from El Prado in Madrid.
Tickets for the art space cost EUR6 (GBP4.95) and the opening hours are from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 20:00 (local time).
