The Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition has opened its doors.
LONDON, ENGLAND, June 18, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Art Lovers may be happy to hear that they can plan a trip down to hotels in London to spend some time at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition.
The show opened today (June 14th) and will be open until August 22nd, with many of the pieces on show for sale, making it a great event for collectors as well as those who just want to peruse some fine artistic creations.
It is not only paintings that are on show at this prestigious occasion, there are plenty of photographs, sculptures and pieces of architecture to keep the more eclectic appreciator happy.
In total, about 11,000 works are submitted to the fair each year, making it one of the largest open-submission events in the world.
The show has also been running for an extraordinary length of time, with this edition set to be the 242nd year it has been staged.
Guest curators this year include Fiona Rae and David Chipperfield, with several pieces by Royal Academy artists such as Gillian Ayres and Tracey Emin confirmed to be displayed elsewhere in the event.
The Royal Academy is open every day from 10:00 to 18:00 BST except for Fridays, when it does not shut until 22:00.
Tickets cost GBP8 and can be purchased online or at the box office.
