Travellers interested in Florentine art may find a new exhibition in Madrid fascinating.
MADRID, SPAIN, June 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Art lovers booked in at Madrid hotels may wish to head down to the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza to see Ghirlandaio and the Renaissance in Florence.
This temporary exhibition offers visitors a comprehensive overview of mostly 15th century Florentine art, including work by Botticelli, Verrocchio, Filipino Lippi and Pollaiouolo.
The titular Domenico Ghirlandaio plays an important role in this display, with his Portrait of Givanna degli Albizzi Tornabuoni - which is part of the art space's permanent collection - chosen as the "starting point" for the show.
About 60 items will be included within this fascinating window into the art produced in the celebrated Italian city more than 500 years ago.
Among the central themes that dominate the exhibition will be the genre of the portrait and the importance of love and marriage.
The organisers added: "It will include an important section on religious art made for private devotional purposes, bringing together not just panel paintings but also sculptures, manuscripts and other objects of the highest artistic quality."
Tourists will be able to see this intriguing display between June 23rd and October 10th, with tickets available on the door and online starting from EUR7 (GBP5.90).
Opening hours are between Tuesday and Sunday from 10:00 to 19:00 (local time).
