LateRooms.com - Enjoy The Potosi Principle in Madrid
The Potosi Principle offers visitors a collection of art from various parts of the world which challenges our interpretation of the past.
MADRID, SPAIN, June 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Guests at accommodation in Madrid will be able to see a fascinating exhibition at the Museo Reina Sofia this summer, which is called The Potosi Principle and features work by an international cast of artists.
The full title of the show is 'The Potosi Principle. How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?' and it is available for viewing until September 6th.
It is a statement of intent by the Museo Reina Sofia, which aims to offer an alternative interpretation of a period of art, by championing "the unacknowledged roots of ... illegitimate modernity".
"It offers a critical re-reading of the dynamics of global capitalism from the oblique viewpoint of the Spanish colonial empire and its imagery," added the art space.
Curated by Alice Creischer, Max Jorge Hinderer and Andreas Siekmann, this exhibition has been put together through a cooperative effort between the Museo Reina Sofia and Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
It features work by artists from all over the world, including Spain, Holland, China, Argentina and Germany.
Another exhibition art lovers can check out while they are at the venue is Drifts and Derivations, which is showing until August 23rd.
The building is closed on Tuesdays and open from 10:00 to 21:00 every other day except Sunday, when people can visit from 10:00 to 14:30.
Tickets cost EUR3 (GBP2.50) or EUR6 to see the whole museum collection.
