Paris' Musee Rodin has a new display of the great artist Auguste Rodin's work on show.

PARIS, FRANCE, June 05, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Musee Rodin in Paris is running an exhibition entitled Corps et Decors, which showcases Auguste Rodin's work relating to the decorative arts.

While many art enthusiasts may be familiar with the Frenchman's work, by heading to this show from their accommodation in Paris, people can consider the status of decorative objects.

The organisers of this exhibition, which is running until August 22nd, claimed that the value of such items was debated by individuals discussing aesthetics in the latter part of the 19th century.

Rodin was very much a part of these debates, which makes his art even more relevant to the topic.

"The works exhibited evoke many questions and debates characteristic of the late 19th century: the unity of the arts, going beyond historical styles, the decorative value of works of art, the conditions of a monumental decoration, the diffusion of great art," noted the venue.

About 150 items will be on display at the art space, including iconic pieces such as Rodin's The Gates of Hell and several vases, drawings and sculptures.

Opening hours for the show are from 10:00 to 17:45 (local time) from Tuesday to Sunday, with entrance costing EUR7 (GBP5.80) or EUR10 to see the rest of the museum as well.

Rodin was born on November 12th in Paris and was a founding member of the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
