An annual arts festival in Singapore could be just the thing for holidaymakers looking to take in the best of the city's cultural scene.

This year's event centres around the theme Between You and Me and aims to get the public closer to the arts through a new outreach programme titled com.mune.
Those who are travelling through the city during the festival can catch a range of free and paid performances throughout its run.
Now in its 33rd year, the festival has played an important role in making Singapore one of the cultural centres of Asia and created an increased public demand for the arts in the city.
Free events include In The Mood - running from May 27th to 30th - which will see two female tailors transform the clothes of audience members using bicycle-powered sewing machines, as well as the Mega Line Dance, which will take place on June 13th.
Ticketed events include dance/film on June 5th and 6th, showcasing examples of dance as shown on screen, as well as Street Revolution JAM! on June 5th, displaying the best of the city's urban street culture. Families may also wish to take in the double-bill performance of The Carnival of the Animals and Peter and the Wolf, which is ideal for all age groups.
