FRANKLIN, MA, February 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Woodshed Gallery in Franklin, Massachusetts will present original fine art paintings by Metro-West Boston's Jean Blake White, March 2 thru 20, 2010. This is the first in a series of exhibitions to showcase outstanding local artists. The public is invited to an opening reception for the artist on Thursday, March 4, from 6PM to 8PM.
This exhibition is the first opportunity for Boston-area residents to view an extended range of Jean Blake White's paintings. Over twenty Five paintings will be displayed in this solo exhibition.
Jean Blake White, who studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, creates expressionistic and abstract art using diverse media. Her paintings are composed of watercolor and oil paints, colored pencils, pastels, and any combinations of media needed to achieve her desired effects.
An active and accomplished artist, Jean Blake White has shown her work in many States, and it is represented in collections from Seattle to London. The late artist and celebrity Vincent Price was proud owner of one of her paintings.
Ms. Blake White was three-term President of the Franklin Art Association, and has won numerous awards in juried group exhibitions. Recently she received a Best In Show and a First Prize in Water-media at an exhibition in the Norfolk, MA Public Library.
For Jean Blake White, painting is a kind of meditation. She says, "Time stops, worries are put aside so that time and troubles are submerged in the work at hand, the colors and lines." She truly believes that her art and life are inseparable, continuing, "I am no more able to stop painting than a bird to stop singing."
This new exhibition program by The Woodshed Gallery is designed to help artists take control of their presentations and advance their careers.
