LateRooms.com - Check Out Powerful Murals in Barcelona
A new exhibition offers art-lovers the chance to see murals painted by some of the top artists from around the world at the Joan Miro Foundation in Barcelona.
BARCELONA, SPAIN, February 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Murals exhibition at Barcelona's Joan Miro Foundation could be a dream ticket for many art enthusiasts, with painters from across the globe taking part to make it a truly spectacular show.
Artists from West Africa, the US, Mexico and Europe have been invited to paint a creative space as part of the Murals, with a camera set up to film how they go about their work.
When people arrive from their hotels in Barcelona, they will have the prospect of a rich variety of works to enjoy, ranging from an interactive display by Jacob Dahlgren, to paintings using dots of clay on a red ground created by Thai artist Sakarin Krue-On.
The ten people brought in to paint at the Murals exhibition each have very different styles, with venue hoping to educate people as to the modern mural-art that exists around the world.
"Mural painting is determined by the architecture, by the surfaces - the forms, the volumes, the planes - so that there is a complete fusion of landscape, architecture and painting," Miro himself is quoted as saying in an interview in 1951.
The exhibition is on until June 6th when a show about Pipilotti Rist will begin.
Entrance costs EUR8.50 (GBP7.51) and the gallery opens from 10:00 to 19:00 from Tuesday to Saturday and 10:00 to 14:30 on Sundays and public holidays.
Commenting on Murals, Jessica Reading, head of marketing for LateRooms, said: "We strongly urge people thinking of going to Murals and who need hoteles en Barcelona to book early to avoid disappointment."
